Police in Franklin Township were notified around 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, that someone was driving on two flat tires on the property of a local private school, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. Arriving officers found Quincy K. Clark coming out of the bushes with his hands in his pockets, they said.
Officers conducting the investigation found a high-capacity ammunition magazine on Clark, and a more extensive search found a gun containing hollow point bullets located on the ground in between bushes nearby, McDonald said.
Thankfully, the school campus had been closed to students, faculty, and staff while authorities conducted the investigation which included a thorough search of the school grounds. Police did not say at which school the incident happened.
A subsequent Somerset County Superior Court-ordered search warrant was executed on Clark's vehicle. More than half an ounce of cocaine was seized, as was additional ammunition.
Clark was arrested and charged with various weapons and drug offenses including certain persons not to have a weapon due to a prior conviction, court records show. Clark has 11 pages of prior offenses on the NJCourts website.
The investigation thus far has revealed that defendant Clark had no connection to the school, faculty, or students. Authorities are still investigating the motive as well as Clark's whereabouts prior to arriving on the school campus.
